The Belle River/Rochester Goodfellows continued their long tradition of generosity this month, bringing Christmas cheer to neighbourhoods across Lakeshore through their annual newspaper drive.
Volunteers spread out across Belle River, Rochester, and surrounding communities, greeting residents with the familiar Goodfellows newspaper and collecting donations that support families in need during the holiday season and throughout the year.
Rick Anderson, president of the Belle River/Rochester Goodfellows, said the group is grateful for the strong community response once again.
“We are so happy to bring cheer to the streets of Lakeshore earlier this month, spreading annual holiday cheer through our newspaper drive,” Anderson said.
He emphasized that the Goodfellows’ work extends far beyond the Christmas season.
“The organization is more than just our basket giveaway during the holidays. If we hear of those needing assistance through the year, we step up and assist,” he said. “It’s the community that donates to our banquet and especially our newspaper sales. All proceeds are used to help those in need throughout the year.”
The Belle River/Rochester Goodfellows have been a cornerstone of local holiday giving for decades, and their newspaper drive remains one of the most recognizable and impactful seasonal traditions in Lakeshore.
With another successful campaign underway, the organization remains committed to ensuring no family in the region goes without support — at Christmas and beyond.
