Community spirit was on full display in Belle River as residents turned out in strong numbers to support the Belle River Firefighters’ annual Toonie Burger Day, hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 399 in partnership with the Belle River/Rochester Goodfellows.
The popular fundraising event drew a steady stream of families, seniors and local supporters, all eager to enjoy a classic barbecue while contributing to a good cause. For the price of a toonie, guests were treated to freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs, served up by Belle River firefighters who volunteered their time behind the grill.
Organizers expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make the day a success, from the volunteers who prepared and served food to the community members whose donations helped boost fundraising totals. Proceeds from the event will support local charitable initiatives, including assistance programs for families and individuals in need throughout the Belle River and Rochester communities.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 399 provided the venue and logistical support, while the Belle River/Rochester Goodfellows coordinated fundraising efforts and community outreach. Both organizations have long histories of supporting local causes and partnering on events that bring the community together.
Residents also welcomed the opportunity to interact with local firefighters outside of emergency situations, thanking them not only for the food but for their ongoing service to the community.
