LaSalle Police and Fire to Participate in Polar Plunge

Members of LaSalle Fire and Police to participate in Polar Plunge
A team made up of LaSalle’s officers and firefighters will be taking the plunge to participate in the #FreezinForAReason event.
The 2022 Virtual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario will be taking place on March 14. The cause is close to the hearts of many in the service.
“Since 1987, law enforcement personnel across Canada have volunteered their time to coach and mentor the athletes and we continue to support their activities through this and other fundraising initiatives,” said a post by the LaSalle Police Service. “The Special Olympics vision is that sport will open hearts and minds towards people with intellectual disabilities and create inclusive communities all across Ontario.”
The LaSalle team’s goal is to raise $2,500 for the cause.
According to the Polar Plunge website, all funds raised will support programming and events for over 26,000 athletes across the province.
Residents are welcome to join the cause and to ‘be creative and have fun’ and take Plunge at home – while also keeping safety in mind.

Some ideas on the website to participate from home include;

  • take a cold shower or fill your bathtub with ice cubes
  • plunge in your pool
  • run through a sprinkler
  • get sprayed with a hose outside
