Vampires, princesses, and ghosts filled the Vollmer Complex grounds on Saturday afternoon for LaSalle’s annual Truck or Treat event. Held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Parking Lot #5, the Halloween celebration welcomed families for a festive day of costumes, candy, and community spirit.
Children dressed in their spooky best explored an exciting lineup of unique vehicles, including emergency, construction, and farm vehicles, trucks, and more, while collecting goodies along the way. Though the vehicles were for display only, the thrill of seeing them up close added to the excitement.
Admission was $3.00 per child, with adults entering free. Attendees parked in designated lots surrounding the event, while lots closest to the Vollmer Centre remained reserved for indoor programming.

The LaSalle Fire Service collected new, unwrapped toys for Sparky’s Toy Drive, receiving generous donations to support families in need this holiday season. Meanwhile, the Public Works display invited guests to vote on a name for the town’s newest bucket truck, with submissions from local Grade 1 students. The winning name was revealed at 3:00 p.m. and will be proudly affixed to the vehicle.
Local businesses showcased a variety of vehicles, adding to the festive atmosphere. Temporary washrooms were available, and despite light rain, the event continued as planned, with updates shared on the LaSalle Events Facebook page.
Attendees praised the event for its welcoming and festive atmosphere. “We just moved to LaSalle from Chatham-Kent a few months ago, and this was such a great way to meet people and feel part of the community,” said Amanda Robert, who attended with her two children dressed as a firefighter and a unicorn. “The kids had a blast!”

Longtime resident Marcus Alexander. also shared his thoughts: “We come every year, and it just keeps getting better. The variety of vehicles and the effort the town puts in really shows. It’s a highlight of our fall.”
