Sandwich Sabres win WECSSAA

Hot on the heels of winning the Mayor’s Cup, Sandwich Secondary School was supposed to verse St. Anne’s Catholic High School for the 2022 WECCSAA Championship.

Unfortunately, the game was canceled due to controversy.

Holy Names was called up to play against the Sabres at the Vollmer Complex on April 1 – and the battle on the ice was definitely no joke.

“We had major contributions where needed, our 4th line really stepped up,” said Sandwich senior and Team Captain, Tyler Trealout. “And we had Impeccable goaltending from Landon Hadre. The Sabres won with a valiant team effort.”

The Sabres won their first-ever WECCSAA Hockey Championship with a score of 6-3.
