Facing elimination from the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League play-offs, four players each scored a goal and Matthew Sbrocca made 22 saves as the LaSalle Vipers defeated the St. Mary’s Lincolns 4-1 at the Vollmer Recreation Centre Thursday night.
The Vipers’ win cuts the Lincolns’ lead to 3-2 in games in the GOJHL Western Conference quarter-final series and forces a game six to be played Friday night at the Pyramid Centre in St. Mary’s Friday night.
Jack Greenwell opened the scoring in game five for the Vipers (2-3) just under five minutes into the second period and Spencer Lecot scored ten minutes later to give LaSalle a 2-0 lead after forty minutes of play.
After Ethan Lamoureux scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game for the Lincolns (3-2) in the first minute of play in the third period, Brody Gillis replied for LaSalle to re-establish the Vipers’ two-goal lead. Stephane Crevier scored into an empty net to round out the scoring and salt away the game for LaSalle.
Defenceman Brady Hamlin chipped in offensively with a pair of assists for the Vipers.
Bryce Walcarious made 28 saves for the Lincolns on the night.
Game six starts Friday night in St. Mary’s at 7:30 p.m. Should a seventh be needed to decide the series, it will be back at the Vollmer Recreation Centre on Easter Sunday with the opening face-off set for 2:30 p.m.
