The LaSalle Vipers lost 4-1 to the visiting St. Mary’s Lincolns in game seven of their Greater Ontario Hockey League Western Conference quarter-final series on Sunday afternoon and have been eliminated from the GOJHL playoffs.

The Vipers appeared to have had the momentum going into the deciding game after having won back-to-back games against the Lincolns on Thursday and Friday nights to force game seven at the Vollmer Recreation Centre but game seven turned out to be a different story for the local junior b hockey team

Lee Knight opened the scoring in the game for the Vipers (3-4) on Sunday with just over four minutes remaining in the first period and the marker turned out to be LaSalle’s only goal in the game.

Kyle Morey brought the Lincolns (4-3) back to even terms with a buzzer-beat scored with just one second left in the second frame.

Thomas Harpour then gave St. Mary’s a 2-1 lead with a goal just 37 seconds into the third period. Joe Mazur and Spencer Hazell both scored for the Lincolns into an empty net to decide both the game and series.

Byrce Walcarius made 17 saves to pick up his fourth win in net for the visitors in the series while Matthew Sbrocca made 23 stops for the Vipers. Both goaltenders played all seven games for their respective teams.
