The LaSalle Vipers have a must-win game on Thursday night following a 2-1 loss to the St. Mary’s Lincolns in game four of their Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Western Conference quarterfinal series play-off series. The game took place before 433 spectators at the Pyramid Recreation Centre in St. Mary’s on Tuesday night.

With the loss, the Vipers (1-3) now trail the Lincolns 3-1 in games in the best-of-seven opening round series.

Jake Eaton opened the scoring in the game with his first goal of the play-offs for the Vipers and that slim lead held up until Kieran Moore scored on the power-play early for St. Mary’s in the third period to knot the game up at 1-1. Noah Vandenbrink scored another extra man goal for the Lincolns (3-1) with just over two minutes minutes remaining in the final frame and that marker proved to be the game-winner.

Byrce Walcarius made 35 saves to pick up the win in net for St. Mary’s while Matthew Sbrocca made 26 stops for LaSalle.

The Vipers will be facing the prospect of having their season end with a loss in game five of the series that goes Thursday night at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Centre in LaSalle. Opening face-off is 7 p.m.
