Unfortunately, a swim participant stepped on a piece of glass at the bottom of the pool during a swim lesson late this afternoon. As a result, the aquatic centre will be closed until further notice.
At approximately 2:45 pm on Sunday, February 25, a deer crashed through a north glass window, off of Laurier Parkway, near the hot tub. The pool was opened at 4:30 pm on Monday.
Although the pool had been vacuumed for several hours today, and has also been backwashed, it is difficult to see glass on the bottom of the pool. Staff are considering further maintenance options including the services of a scuba diver to scan the bottom of the pool.
All lessons are cancelled and a credit will be applied to each participant’s account. Updates about the operation of the pool will be posted on the Town’s social media sites. We appreciate your patience as we continue to deal with this rare incident.
