Premium Spirits, Wine, and Craft Beer at LaSalle’s ‘Last Call Before Fall’ this weekend

By Matt Weingarden

The Town of LaSalle is inviting the public to finish out the summer surrounded by bistro lights, whisky barrels, and a blending of local craft beers, premium spirits and wines, food, and entertainment all in under one roof.

The Last Call for Before Fall celebration is coming to the Event Centre at the LaSalle Landing waterfront, 970 Front Rd., on Friday, Sept. 8 and Sat., Sept. 9. The event will entice participants to sample and enjoy some of the local flavours of the region.

“The Town actually had a LaSalle based craft beer fest before Covid at the Vollmer Centre and the event was a success,” said Scott Bisson, manager of Culture and Recreation for the Town of LaSalle.

“With the new addition of the Event Centre, it seemed a natural fit to do something similar at the new venue.”

Bisson says the Centre has all the new amenities to hold a potentially annual festival…without the threat of inclement weather.

“We had success with the craft beer festival, and drawing on that, we decided to launch the Last Call Before Fall event, as well as offer so much more, including wine and premium spirits, food and entertainment,” said Bisson.

He believes that an event like this is important for the community.

“We believe that by building a foundation at the Event Centre it gives local people the chance to attend a celebration in LaSalle…make it a destination for the residents,” Bisson added. “As well, give exposure and support to local businesses. So, it’s a win-win for everyone.”

The Town has partnered with Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, featuring partners from the Barrels, Bottles, and Brews Trail and Essex Pelee Island Coast (EPIC) Wineries.

“This is a first for us. Everything offered at the event will feature a local flavour…Windsor – Essex…local beer, spirits, food, vendors and entertainment,” said Owen Stichhaller, supervisor of Recreation for the Town. “We will have food trucks on site as well.

Festival goers will be able to try the flavourful food from Oven 360, Mojos Rollin Taco and The Waffel Truck.

Stichhaller says local musicians will rock the stage.

Get ready to dance on Friday night with Bigg Wiggle and a wide range of music from rock to pop,” said Stichhaller.

The Saturday night headliner, Buck Twenty, is a country singer/songwriter duo from Harrow and LaSalle.

The vendor lineup include Frank Brewing Co., GL Heritage Brewing Company, Kingsville Brewery, Top Dog Brewing Company, Walkerville Brewery, CREW Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards, Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery, Viewpoint Estate Winery, Vivace Estate Winery, Wolfhead Distillery, and WindsorEats.

“We are excited to launch this new indoor and outdoor event to celebrate the end of summer with local craft beer, premium wine and spirits, and delicious food,” said Patti Funaro, director of Culture and Recreation. “This location allows the bay doors to open onto the event plaza, and along with fire tables and Adirondack chairs, we’ll celebrate the end of summer.”

A limited number of tickets will be sold, so get yours today! Purchase $2 drink tokens onsite to taste something new or enjoy your favourite drinks.

Tickets are $20 per night and are available online only at www.lasalle.ca/LCBF.
